Indian Life, a workshop on exploring water colour

Art House organised a two day thematic workshop exploring water colour, On 26th and 27th February 2011, at Venkatappa Art Gallery, Bengaluru.    Ms. Lina Vincent Sunish, Art Historian and writer, was invited to talk on History of Water colour.  Mr. Sivabalan, Artist who is specialised in water colour was invited to teach his technique to the workshop participants.

The day session began at 11 am with a introduction of participants and talk by Ms. Lina Vincent Sunish.  At 12 noon Mr. Sivabalan demonstrated a land scape.  After lunch there was a practice session, where all the 12 participants started practicing with Sivabalan. 

Venkatappa Art Gallery being in the cubbon park campus with beautiful trees around and the lovely red coloured archeology museum inspired our participants, they started painting various subjects, some painted the museum, some selected the bamboo and other trees at the campus.  To end the days session Sivabalan demonstrated his painting,  this time a girl selling flowers.

On day two the participants were to come up with a subject depicting Indian Life, each one came up with different subjects  like some painted south Indian temple, some with coastal area, rural life etc.,

Finally to conclude Mr. Ravi Rao, Marketing Manager, Sankyo trading co., who are the distributors of art materials, provided information on various papers, water colour and other available materials in the market.
