There were only 9 participants some did not turn up inspite of blocking the seat.  We began the days session by introducing Sentil Kumar our instructor to the participants.  He told them to sketch using the paper directly from the brush using oil medium.  As some of them found difficult, he demonstrated a quick sketch which motivated them and they all started choosing a location and worked in monochrome.  Day one they worked on a paper which was smooth in texture.
Our participants a couple of them senior citizens, couple a high school students, a doctor, a IT profession and some home makers.  There skill level varied some were good and some average.  As I had told earlier drawing skill would be a added advantage in the current workshop, I did not take any beginners. All the participants were beginners for oil medium,   As per the instruction by Senthil, all the participants worked in a monochrome where each one explored the natural beauty.  They all had a round of tea, where they all discussed one another, also they struggled in the medium as they were more used to water colour,  Senthil corrected their work individually and gave them inputs to improvise.  Packed north indian lunch was provided at 1: 15pm, after the lunch they were told to use colours to express the landscape.

Our instructor gave them a quick demo on using colours, they were shown how to mix and apply colours on the surface.  Most of them worked without taking a break and were happy to take home two works on the day one.  The days session concluded at 4: 30 pm.

Day 2
Though the class was scheduled at 10: 30 am everybody were present at 10’o clock.  We began the session with a demo by a young artist Venkatesh who was assisting us in coordinating the workshop.  Later Senthil worked simultaneously with the participants, most of them choosed the same location as that of Senthil, they found it easy to imitate him while painitng.  I told them to watch him painting for half an hour and continue with their work as they was not much time.

Day 2’s painting experience was different because they were working on a canvas board.  Some of them had a doubt in composition where necessary inputs were given.   All of them were busy working, the only break they took was for a tea.  Senthil continued and completed his work, later he took turns to correct the participants work.  1’o clock lunch was served and they started working immediately.  Senthil demontrated them how to work in pallet  knife as well.  He corrected all of their work, he believed that participants would be happy to see their works on  wall.  By 4’o clock they all had finished their work one participants had to leave early as there was a emergency.  All the works were displayed, it was a memorable day for all of them, as they had captured the beauty of cubbon park on their canvases.
