Discover Bengaluru through Art

Discover Bengaluru through Art Class 1
7th October 2012
As you all know that we have been holding regular workshop since September 2010.  I had planned the workshop for 29th and   30th September, but I had to postpone the event for 7th October.  Also for a change this time I combined sketching and water color batches together.  Hence the name Discover Bengaluru through Art,  It has a combination of sketching session where  Senthil Kumar shared  all secrets of drawing,  while V.G.Venugopal handled the Art of Water colour.   It  result of combining both batch  is more in No.s.   When in large group, participants are motivated by seeing others working and  by looking at other’s work.

This time it is a large group, with 14 in sketching and 10 in water colour.  It has a combination of all age groups starting from 17 to 70yrs of age.  Some are students who have joined to enhance there skill level so that they can appear for NATA / Fashion technology, while some wanted to fulfill their passion for learning art.    The participants  are from techies, management, architects, a teacher and a couple of home makers and retired senior citizens with lot of energy to work.  They all come from different places of Bengaluru.

We started the session with a round of introduction starting from the instructors.  There after each instructor started talking to the participants and made them work.  Senthil Kumar demonstrated and showed each participants while Venugopal demonstrated in group and show them how simple it is to use water colour with minimal colors.   Both teachers took rounds and checked their participants and cleared their doubts.

While the sketching group moved inside the archeology museum to sketch the iconography, the water colour group continued with a round of sketching and coloring them.  All participants inside the museum were instructed to observe the sculptures there after a demonstration by the instructor,  this time it was quick drawing of  Ganesha with charcoal.  Each participants were instructed to choose one idol and finish them.  Some found it easy after seeing the demonstration and some struggled.

While the group inside the museum struggled, the group outside were also struggling with their first water colour work.  Being the first class all of them experimented with the nearby plants and trees.  We ended the session at 1:30.
